I bought car several years ago and  got it through MOT.  Burned around in it for a couple of years then took it off road to get it ready for next MOT .  2 years passed so kicked my self up the backside and got stuck into it.   This was the car when i first started .

Repaired inner wings and  welded full sills and wings on and changed doors.

Stripped off rear axle and refurbished and poly bushed.

Got a bit carried away cleaning floor under car.

And this is how it looks at the moment.

Started to put paint and primer on passenger doors and started on bumpers as well.

Replacing brake and fuel lines.  Might make it for September deadline.

How did you take the wing off?  I had to take the door off, because the wing was welded to the pillar

And this is how it looks at the moment.

Good god!!!  That's tidy.  I was considering powder coating, but my restoration is taking too long as is

That's some serious polishing. I couldn't do that, cost too much time. Will pobably do it later

Hi sierra3dr .........Has taken over a year to get this far.   Wings I carefully drilled  out spot welds and door pillar I ground stitch welds on door pillar with dremel  and used old screwdriver with missing handle to chisel last of weld.   Chisels i had were too thick.

Floor i got carried away with only intend to clean patch and under-seal. It was nice and dry under there and i was out of the rain.

Considered powder coating but as i am working on very tight budget (out of work) . Rather spend money on mechanical side.

Polishing i only meant to do Plenum and Throttle body.    As my car is at mate yard and doesn't work every weekend I got bored and started polishing other bits  at home. Embarrassed

You have done some nice work on yours as well.   Cool

Been there done that .  Thats were i had my first few pints .   Lad with key disappear with a bird. Landlady had locked up.  Luckily we were in front bedroom so i shinned up drainpipe and let the rest of lads in.     Last bloke dropped latch on door.  Lad with key had to wake up landlady.  Grin Grin

Spent weeks cleaning old under-seal off car by hand in all weathers . What did i do this week when weather allowed . Put new under-seal on.

Passenger door almost ready .  Using black as guide coat .   Glad i did  , it shows every little dent.   Getting quite expert at rubbing down bodywork. Roll Eyes

Started to clean and paint interior .  Started in boot first so i can fit this and start on  Speaker install.

Not in parcel shelf as it a early MK1 with first aid box(unfortunately not an original one) and sun blinds .

Been to have a look at 24v blocks locally.    Cylinders scored would have needed re bore.     Don't mind fitting new rings and honing .     Well looks like i will have to look further afield.

Been fighting with the weather but got some more paint on the car.  Pretty much satisfied with passenger side.   Started on rear panel and tried new lights for fit.

Rear drivers primed and guide coated,     Front door needs corner repair and rear wing needs more work.

Bonnet scoops have been a pain but almost happy with them.

Waiting for new fuel and brake pipe clips to arrive.   Then i can refit fuel pump and plumb in brakes . Smiley

Cars at mates yard . Doesn't work on Sundays .    More polishing and probably give bumpers another flat back and give them some more paint.  Progress will be slower over the next 4 weeks have been put on a work placement .  Luckily its 4 days a week so shall have Friday and Saturday to work on car. Has come at the wrong time . Sad

Looks like I'll have to move my deadline.   Grin  A couple of evening and a Friday if it's dry.   Have done brake and fuel lines and have jacked it up on the other side to Schultz . Bumpers almost finished , blown over had to flat back and start again.  Sad  Trial fitted indicators and fog light for fit and to see how they looked.

Respraying some of the smaller parts ,they seem to take longer.   Door handles, wing mirrors and some of the bits of  door trim.

Finally sourced new brake clips .

Finally got enough good weather to schultz drivers side. Grin  While waiting for weather to change, painted some other bits.

Looks like I'll have to move deadline again.   Just as I thought i could start putting it back together again.   I went for a job and actually got it.    Cool Not too bad though don't start work till 2 pm so will have a few hours to work on car in the morning.  Smiley Smiley
