What an absolutely fantastic project, what kind of power are you estimating? On the 3.8 mustang V6, do they have an intercooler under the blower like the 4.6 Cobras?

Thanks for the comments. I am using a 2.9V6 as apposed to a Mustang engine, so all the parts have been fabricated / modified to suit our project. After using some posts on here and fordpower i have worked out with the fitted pulley i should get 0.5bar (approx 6psi) of boost. I would rather start off with small boost and increase it over time. I can't fit an intercooler as i wanted the blower in the 'proper' place on top of the engine. I have done away with that aluminium block in the pictures to space the blower off the top plate as the profile above the bonnet would be too high. As it stands i think i may have to cut the bonnet and make a bigger hump in the middle. Cheers Kevin

Hi Kev, my bad wording. What I meant was, the engine that the blower is from, do they have a cooler slung under them? My cobra engine has a water cooled intercooler under the blower and it all sits right down in the valley.

Hi I'm sorry but i dont know. The blower came from the US via ebay, so didnt get to see it fitted to the original engine. I'm hoping to grow up one day and have a small block ford 351 Windsor under my bonnet. Then in the even more distant future i want a blower on that . Cheers Kevin

Some progress Holes are drilled in manifold for all the vacuum pipes, boost gauge, bypass etc. I'm working on the belt routing next, anyone have any thoughts as to good or bad choice of my chosen route. The alternator has to fit where it is now and has worked fine for last 4 years. I was thinking of putting tensioner on the left hand side of the crank pulley between crank pulley and alternator. Cheers Kevin

I would suggest an idler as close to the blower pulley as possible. It creates more wrap and lessens the chances of slip under boost. Have you worked out the rate of SC rotation with the current pulleys?

Hi Paul Thanks for the info. I am hoping to get another pulley close to the return side of the blower as possible. I will post up progress as/when. Cheers Kevin

Hi All Ive not been resting on my laurels. I picked up my powder coated bits today, £30 for all the bits to be blasted and painted - bargain. The blower is mounted on properly now, but the powder coated bits and brackets need to be refitted. Ive already gone through a 100ml tube of hylomar, lots more to go yet. I've made most of my own gaskets as they are one offs. Boost gauge will be dash mounted. FSE rising rate fuel pressure regulator needs to be mounted properly as well. Surprising how much the cost of silicon hoses and pretty bits knock up the build cost. Hopefully it will be running within 2 weeks. Then August Duxford show here we come. Cheers Kevin

Thanks for the interest. The problem is the sidepipes are that loud you cannot hear blower I may start another post to ask if anyone has design criteria for Ford V8 side pipes. I may get some made to work with a V8 in the long term, but get them on my BOA for now. The larger the outside can, the more packing i can get in and hence quieter i can make them. I can always add extra restriction in the pipes to keep the BOA happy. With large headers i found the power band high up the rev range and fuel economy was shocking. So presumably too large a 'back box' would have the same effect. Cheers Kevin

Im sick to death with "What colour are you going to paint it" when it does get taken out in public. i suppose it's rude to start the engine up and nail it at 6000 rpm so i cant hear em lol. Cheers Kevin
