Task: to think of more interesting ways to display my car at car shows.

First of all I thought I could put a massive box around it as if it was a massive toy. Would be handy if it rained too. But that wasn't practical unless I owned a truck.

Then I thought how about turning it into a giant Scalextric car. I could drive it onto some gray sheeting with silver gaffer 'tracks', add a massive hand controller, and stick a temporary white circle on the side with a number on it. Perhaps add a body inside with a helmet on. Fix a set of pick-ups underneath. I'm being serious here. I might still do that one day.  Cool

Perhaps employ a couple of young ladies to drape themselves over the bonnet. But that would cost, and you lot would keep siffing around too, especially 2Saffs and his camera Grin and that would mean the punters couldn't get near.

So I decided to get some 80s retro junk from eBay and drape my car in it. This is the result for next time out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrHEJ8xpWNM

Hey, it's not as bad as it could have been.

I know, I need to get out more.....

That is pretty cool though, nice touches, a perfect finishing touch though would be to dress in period too, maybe a nice Shell suit, sweat bands and some Dunlop green flash  laugh laugh laugh

I think I'll leave that to you, and you can be Mr Cool.  Cool

I was going to go in a T-shirt and jeans, which was what I wore in the 80s too.

Now, funny you should say that - I was bidding on a radio cassette to bung in the back seat but went for the 99p walkman instead. Hey, it is better than the cardboard radio I used to have - that was legend.  Embarrassed

If anyone has any ideas what else that is 'old and dated' that I could put in the car just add them here:

(and don't say Taps could sit in it)  Grin

If  Taps  can't    sit  in it  ,  and  you  did  a  'cardboard'  radio  ,  why  not  combine these  and  do  a  'Cardboard Taps'  ?

Lets  hear  what  the  man  says Huh??

I have  come  to  the  conclusion ,  that  when at  a  Car  Show  you want  to  see the  cars ,  and  perhaps  take  pics .

What is becoming more  familiar  is   'A'   Boards and  related stuff  all over  the  outside of the  cars that interupt  a  good  pic -  yes  i am  guilty  too  as  i  display stuff  on the  car side  window .

A  short  'write up'  is  good  as  it tells  peeps  about  a  car , if  they  are  too  shy  to  ask .

So  whats   the  line  of  thought  here  Huh?

Yeah I agree to a point as I take lots of videos, and that is why I've put my extra stuff deep inside the back of the car (not the front) as a little surprise, to increase the experience so to speak. I'm trying not to spoil the outside look of the car. Only the three laminated A4 sheets are directly stuck on the rear windows, and a good photographer will have Photoshop in his armoury and so they won't be a problem to clone out.

Personally I prefer to have the bonnet shut too, and this keeps the cars shape nice but others prefer it open to show off the engine, which may be the cars best bit.

At other shows people even dress the cars up in a theme for their club.

I guess seeing a variety of displays makes the whole show more interesting. And it's nice people can do what they choose.

Plus I can vary the display from show to show, and it shows I've put in some thought in rather than just parking the car up. But some days I will just park it up.

Hey at least there's a discussion going now  Cheesy

LOL. Great idea.  Grin

Today I drove passed a red Mini on its way to a show, and it was towing another chopped in half red Mini backwards, with a blow-up doll driving the backwards bit. Serious. I'm not going mad. Perhaps I WAS sleeping at the wheel. Has anyone else seen it? Where are me headache tablets...?

Those Mini guys are a weird lot.
