Wasn't me, was all taps doing last year, as all the contact was direct between duxford and taps and just involves a yes or no and a rough idea of attendies, your thinking of ford fair the other year which i must say, was more of an effort than i first imagined and although the turnout on our account was excellent, the end result from there part wasn't impressive

Dear all

I hope you are well.
I just thought of letting you know that IWM Duxford will again be holding two events for car & motorbike clubs in 2012:

the Spring Car Show on Sunday 6 May 2012

and

the Spitfires, Merlins & Motors event on Sunday 5 August.

The latter will only be open to classic cars though, and include a short Spitfire display (subject to serviceability and weather) among other things.

Admission for car clubs is £9.95 per person and if you are interested to attend please contact Adam Kendall on akendall@iwm.org.uk or 01223 497984 for a booking form.

As I am leaving the Museum very soon, my email address will no longer be active.
It was a pleasure to work you on past events and I wish you all the very best for the future.

Kind regards

Jessica

I've emailed Dux for a form for the May show.  Smiley

Most of us can pretty much forget the Summer show as the entry requirements for the Summer Car event are pre 1975 cars only.  Sad

XRoc are listing duxford for the 5th august, wonder if they've either been given special treatment, or if they've not read about the pre 75 bit Cheesy

Perhaps XROC don't know because they couldn't find anything to the contrary on the Duxford web pages. I only found out because I've asked for an application form and this was the email message sent to me today after I asked about my 1981 car getting into the Summer show too:

Hi Laurie
Thank you for your enquiry into the Duxford Car shows, please find attached a booking form for the Spring Car Show on the 6th May. Unfortunately the entry requirements for the Summer Car event are pre 1975 cars only, due to the vintage theme of Spitfires, Merlins and Motors.
Any questions please call me on 01223 499307
Best wishes

Only XR7 would do http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Cougar

Now, I've just looked at the booking form and it is for clubs rather than individuals, so do you wish me to complete it nearer the time for PBF? I don't wish to step on anyones toes, and I think normally Taps does it. So I can forward the email if you wish to Taps or Owain who started this thread - no probs.

Either way, they need numbers of cars attending and the form filled in 3 weeks before the Spring Show, so mid-April, only 9 weeks away. They are also asking for any other attractions we might be able to suggest. I was going to suggest girls in bikinis for photographs (just thinking of 2Saffs here) but my wife vetoed that. I might suggest getting the Wheeler Dealers down, as I know you are all big fans  Grin

Cost of the Spring show is £9.50 (with car) with kids under 16 free. Standard admission £16.50.

I'm sure Taps wont mind at all if you wish to make the arrangements mate. A separate thread with simply attendees would be a good idea, so we can see if its worth the trouble for you organising. I will do my best to get there but sadly we will be in an Astra so I don't want to park that anywhere near our stand  laugh
Also I think the girls in bikinis idea is fabulous, but if I get there the Mrs will be with me, so you have probably saved me a public castration  Grin

Right, Dux have had a change of heart and are now allowing any age of car at the Summer show on Aug 5th. Once I told them all they'd get from us was a smoky old multi-coloured diesel Capri, they quickly changed their mind   Cheesy

Here's the message from them:
Hi Laurie
Please be advised that we are now accepting any age of car for the Summer Car Show, so if your club could still make it, would be great to have you there!
Any questions please call me on 01223 499307
Best wishes
Vickie
p.s. Please park your cars all around that old Capri so nobody can see it.

Actually I added the p.s. bit  Grin (Laurie)

We can start up a dedicated thread for that show nearer the time.
